I have xbmc running on a gbox mx2. I tried using samba share but wanted something more flexible for a different use so I went with http. Got the server running, htaccess auth is tested and working, media shows up and is even streamed in a browser. When I use all the same info in an xbmc source, it says it can't connect. Port 80, using local ip as addr because on the same network, username/password filled in, tried both pointing to a dir of folders and a dir of files. I just can't understand what I'm doing wrong.
Instead of http try "Web server directory (HTTPS)" port 443.
Problem is wider than just this so I started a new thread. I tried https and no dice.
