Hello!

I recently converted a previous PC build into a HTPC. Upon downloading/installing the latest XBMC build and configuring my devices I noticed that I was not receiving sound through my soundbar or television. I also noticed that playback was extemely choppy.

My video/audio is is being sent via HDMI from a EVGA 770 to a EH5300 LCDTV. The audio is then being sent via optical to a Sony HTCT260H soundbar. I know it's likely not the ideal set-up, but it's all I have at the moment.

There doesn't appear to be any playback/sound issues when playing my MKVs through other programs such as VLC media player.

If it's any help, the PC's specs are as follows:

CPU: 3570K (HSF: h100i)
MOBO: P8Z77-V-Pro
GPU: EVGA 770 SC
RAM: Corsair XMS 8GB (4x2)
SSD: Crucial M4 256GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB
PSU: Corsair RM 750
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
Have a look through this wiki article.

My first guess is an issue with your audio output, i.e. Directsound vs. WASAPI. Just be sure you are looking at the expert level settings in order to see all of the options.
Expert level settings? That is new to me. What are you referring to?
