So I have just installed windows 8 on a HTPC that I am running. I have changed from OpenElec and with that if I wanted to transfer any videos or other content I have been using WinSCP which was set up without any problems.

Now with windows that doesn't want to work, I think its due to not having some sort of server function, but haven't really got a clue. I haven't been able to find any good guides either that explain it well.

Any ideas on how I can continue to keep using WinSCP?

Thanks.
winscp uses ssh or sftp i believe.. thats why it worked with openelec, has ssh server. you will need to install/config one of the supported protocols..

but if it were me, id just share what ever folders you need from the windows 8 machine and access them over smb/cifs
I believe that OpenElec has SMB integrated, so you can share folders on the OpenElec machine. Both SMB and SSH will have to be activated on the OpenElec machine.

Take a look here for sharing files on the OpenElec PC using Samba: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Sharin...m_OpenELEC

and here for SSH: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=Ssh_commands
