Full Version: ScanForExternalSubtitles very slow on samba

I'm using openelec but this seems like it could be more of an xbmc then openelec issue. When you have samba shares with videos folders where each video is not in its own seperate folder (i.e. you have a few hundred videos in a folder like music videos), it can take a long time for the video to start and from looking at the log it seems to be "ScanForExternalSubtitles" that is causing it. Disabling statfiles doesnt make much difference. Does it need to check every file to see whether its a subtitle file or not? Its an issue as well where you have late night tv shows like jimmy fallon that go on for most of the year so you could have hundreds of videos and metadata if you dont prune them and it can take quiet a while for the video to start.

Example here:
11:28:59 T:140352249919232 DEBUG: ScanForExternalSubtitles: END (total time: 27004 ms)
