The OpenElec version with Kodi is still beta so your gonna have to update it manually.
Please do a search this is answered two pages ago.

I just bought another Chromebox,Is there anything that i need to worry about?
My previous Chromebox is using XBMC Gotham and its works great.

Thanks!

you can still install OE 4.2.1 (XBMC 13.2) if you prefer, you just need to download and create the install media yourself, vs using the script. Only notable difference from a ChromeBox point of view is the one video acceleration settings change, which is documented in 'recommended settings' section of the wiki (as well as the post directly above yours)

Sorry for this question

What files i'm suppose to see in OpenElec image that i created.

I have 2 USB stick and i am trying to figure out which one is the correct version for chromeBox

if you're not sure, just download and create a fresh one. There's nothing on the OE install media to indicate the version, though the presence of the SYSTEM and KERNEL files in the USB stick root are indicative that it is an OE installer
If anyone is interested, a standalone install of incrediblepbx on top of ubuntu 14 works awesome

Thanks for your help. So would I'd be right in saying once Kodi has its final release openelec will then update automatically?

assuming you have automatic updates enabled, and are running a stable version now, it will update to the next stable release once available
Just curious, I have a HP with 4gb ram.
When I upgrade to 8gb will it be noticeable? Or is it overkill?
Ok, the Problem with the "No Signal" to TV is still present. Today i wanted to start the Box from Sleep and got "No Signal" to the TV. TV is on the right Channel, HDM Switch is On. But if i turn the HDM Switch off, start the Box and turn the HDMI Switch on after the Box is Turned on i got a Signal to the TV. Its exact the same Problem mentioned here: http://www.google.at/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&e...2063,d.bGQ

On my Computer Monitor everything is fine via HDMI and DP. Wierd. Is there a chance that a standalone install with coreboot solves the problem?

I never had any HDMI Issues with this TV with various devices (DVD Player, BD Player, Streming Box (Xstreamer), Video Game Consoles or a PC connected vie DVI-D 2 HDMI Cable) so in my oppinion this is a Issue related to the chromboxes Video Bios or the HDMI Handshake Procedure. The TVs native Resolution is 1366x768 and according to the manual it is capable of displaying 1024x768 @ 60Hz, 720p and 1080i.
hi, sorry to interrupt, but I install linux mint 13 mate lts on my chromebox. I don't know if I did something wrong during the tutorial.

For a standalone setup, you will need to perform the following steps:

Put the ChromeBox in developer mode
Open the ChromeBox and remove the write-protect screw
Download/run the EZ setup script
Select Standalone setup option, which will backup your stock firmware/BIOS and flash a custom one
Create install media for desired OS. Script includes option to create OpenELEC install media

Power off ChromeBox-------------- I think I forgot to do this at this point it ask me to backup the firmware in usb. Then it
said to to press enter to return to menu. Then after that I input 5 to install and download coreboot firmware.

Connect/plug-in USB install media
Power on ChromeBox, Press [ESC] from boot menu, select USB device --------Since I did not power it off I did with just reboot.
Install OpenELEC (or your OS of choice)

I am really a noob at this I guess I made these mistakes because I nervous plus my brother was distracting me and I forgot.
Nerveless, the installation when through but both cpu's are really high. When run xbmc the two cpus are at 97% without running
any videos or add on, just navigating through it, the mouse is really slow and even runing youtube cpus are at 67% idle sometimes goes
to 100% cpus. When I install xbmc I fallow the instructions:

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties pkg-config
sudo apt-get install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa
sudo apt-get update---------------at this step it gave me an error and it did not update.
sudo apt-get install xbmc

At this point I am stuck I don't know what to do? Since I erase chrome os how do I start over? maybe I suspect that I don't have
the latest kernel version on. But I don't know how to check it or update it. I was using the chromebox for a while and then it turn off by itself.
Did some digging and found the command to check the kernel version: uname -r and I get this
3.2.0-23 generic. So if is not the kernel maybe the mistake I made cause this or is it the linux mint is to resource hungry for chromebox? maybe I should look into xubuntu or lubuntu?

I'm pretty sure I've 'bricked' it now.... ;o(

I was following the instructions for a dual boot and things were looking right. When I did the final restart to expect to see XBMC appear, then I saw some issues about 'booting the kernel'. After searching for a solution for this issue I decided I would rather go back to the original factory settings but this was apparently a struggle again. So at some point I decided to switch to a stand alone XBMC solution - expecting this would 'cure' the issues I had... Unfortunately this didn't get me to XBMC again? (kernel issues?) I took a backup going through the installation, but when I boot from USB it shows booting the kernel, but nothing happens...(a backup of a faulty system?)

So now I'm in trouble and can't think of any other solutions... can anyone help? Is there a way to install a "correct" version on my usb to get it back and try something again or is it "dead"?

Would appreciate any kind of help, ;o)

By the way - was/is using this: Chromebox 2955U and a 8gb kingston USB

you didn't brick it, you just need to install an OS (OpenELEC, Ubuntu, etc) via USB. Create a USB installer on another machine, then boot it on the ChromeBox and install.

You were right! Not 'bricked'... For some reason I also had a lot of issues making the usb installer from my Macbook, so getting over this hurdle was also a struggle... Then I got hold of a windows machine to make the USB stick and then I was finally able to move forward! Now linux and OpenELEC is installed and I'm right now working with finetuning the setup! ;o) Thanks a lot for the reply that kept me working on with this. Thumbs up!

The standalone firmware uses the same VGA BIOS as my fixed SeaBIOS payload for the stock firmware, so if it is the issue, flashing the standalone firmware won't fix it. Have you tried using the suspend/resume script in the wiki? It forces the video/audio to reconnect upon resume.

Why are you running such and old version of Mint? The 3.2 kernel is definitely your issue; you should be running Mint 17 with kernel 3.14 or newer

for OpenELEC/Kodi? anything over 2GB is unnecessary.
