I have the same problem.. The guys in the openelec irc suggested its a driver problem.. i will try to install kodibuntu and see if it helps (:
that's a terrible idea. If it were a driver idea then a lot more people using a ChromeBox with affected versions of OpenELEC would be having the same issue. But if you do want to try Kodibuntu, I'd recommend following fritsch's guide for the new VAAPI builds here: 231955 (thread)
yes its wierd that only two have this issue.. the only difference between the M118U and the M077U is the ram, right?
Has anyone ever tried this? the last time i did i couldn't boot Ubuntu Server 15.04. (The install went fine but when i tried to boot it stuck on booting from harddisk.)

I tested it out, worked fine. My only issue was my keyboard not working in the installer, had to switch to another.

so buy an Asus and swap out the wifi card if it's that big of a deal.
Matt,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I am not sure if you are aware of the price delta between the two boxes.
Noticeably it is $60+ as of today. In simple terms the Asus is 30% more with the lesser wireless card.
I need another four boxes for family members, so the $$$ adds up. It also makes it easier if they (family) all see they have the same "box".

Since the problem with the chromebox waking up persists and nobody has a clue what it could be i am trying out going back to stable build 5.08.
I didnt have this problem with my first chromebox and i have to figure out why.

Sorry to say, but why is this such a problem? The chromebox uses bugger all power. Mine is on 24/7.
Has anyone got wake up from supend via bluetooth keybord working on ubuntu? There has to be a way right, since it works on openelec..

i just want it working... but sorry to report that going to 5.08 didnt help either. Came in 2 times today and the device was running again.
Now the only thing i suspect is the ps3 remote v1 since with my old box i had v2... tomorow ill disconect the bluetooth remote and try and see if it was the prob.

obviously prices fluctuate and vary significantly by region. Here in the US, it's a $10 difference currently.

not a ChromeBox / setup script / Kodi issue - you'll likely have the most luck on the Ubuntu forums

then reset to a base / known working config and go from there. It's the only diagnostically sane way to proceed.

Okay got it working! If someone needs this to:
Code:
sudo nano /etc/rc.local
add these two lines before exit 0
Code:
/bin/echo 'enabled' > /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-4/power/wakeup
/bin/echo 'enabled' > /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/power/wakeup
Now reboot and it should work (:

So far either disable all hard ware acceleration completely or turn vaapi preferred method on solve the problem..pretty odd. Surprisingly that no one else seems to have experienced this issue.
will need your debug kodi.log to see what's up - it's 99.9% an issue with the file(s) and not with OpenELEC/Kodi/the ChromeBox
Hey Matt i was finally able to reproduce the errors and uploaded to the debug log
here is the link.. thank you for your kindness.

This isn't a VC-1 interlaced source is it? If it is an uncompressed rip of a concert Blu-ray, then the concert may well have been shot interlaced, and thus released using an interlaced codec.
Intel VAAPI decode fails on interlaced VC-1 at the moment - though interlaced H264 and MPEG2 are fine. It's the main known issue with Intel Linux VAAPI decode drivers (they decode fine in Windows on the same hardware)
It's an issue with European Blu-ray releases in particular, as Blu-ray doesn't support 25p, so almost all European TV series are released 50i (with 25p content carried as 25psf), and if they are encoded as VC-1 you hit a problem. Re-encoding to H264 (with a quality loss) or using CPU decoding (which can be triggered by disabling VC-1 decode for VAAPI) are the only real solutions. However US 60i releases will also have the same issues - though there are fewer of them as US TV series can often be released 24p VC-1 (avoiding interlacing and thus decoding fine)
Hi Matt n Noggin
Well this concert was just one of the many example. its sporadic in nature, I can restart the device and it will play fine for a while then act up again. I've tried it on blu ray rip as well. same result. I noticed one thing is that when it happens, even when the movie stopped playing and I am in the home screen of kodi, the CPU usage still lingering in the high zone for a few minutes then slowly going back down.
weird thing is turning off Hardware acceleration completely will solve the issue but at a price of constant high cpu usage...

fritsch said it looks like you have deinterlacing set to on - it should be set to auto / MADI for all videos
