I recently installed XBMC on my sons shield. It seems to run smoothly but it will not browse our network. When I try and add a network source it just hangs when I select SMB. It also hangs when I type in a network path. The device itself can browse the network using other software so it seems as though it is an XBMC issue. It is running the final version of Gotham. I have zero experience with Android so it may just be a simple oversight on my part. Any help you can provide is appreciated!

Have you tried entering a direct SMB IP? Sometimes browsing for SMB shares is a tricky business, even thought it might work on other devices on the same network. I'm not really sure why, other than most SMB support (including that in XBMC) is a reverse engineering of SMB, and Microsoft doesn't always give all the secrete details.
