How can I add my smart playlists for genres as submenus to "Movies"?
Settings submenu > Customize Main Menu > Highlight Movies > Press Left > Highlight your chosen slot > Replace menu with > Choose video playlist.
I didn't see the seetings for submenu. I will look again

Is it possible to have random showcases or fanart shown when "Movies" is highlighted?
You mean the movies button on the home screen ?
It's on the same menu as above.
Highlight 'movies' and the choose 'use multiple backgrounds'.
Is it Change backdrop - Multiple images?
If I choose that I have to browse for an image folder.
