Full Version: [SOLVED] Xbmcbuntu hangs on Splashscreen after Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Upgrade

I just did an upgrade this morning from 11.10 (old) to 12.04 and then to 14.04. I then updated to the latest XBMC (13).
All my system settings (ssh, nfs share mounts, vnc, etc) work great. Except the only thing is XBMC never loads now. The machine just hangs at the media center splash screen.

I tried removing my ~/.xbmc and starting fresh. I got the following xbmc.log, pastebin link. I didn't see any errors.

  1. Do you see any errors in XBMC log?
  2. Where else should I check in logs and what to look for?
  3. How do I disable the splashscreen to get more info on the console?

Thanks.
Solved.

After some more hunting on the forum I found this thread post:

Not sure what magic occurs when I add "i915.i915_enable_rc6=0" to to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT. But it worked for me.

As for #3, for others, that is just removing "quiet splash" from GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT.
