I' ve done the Linux installation of my HTPC from this HOWTO (Linux - vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing)

After that I tried to start a standalone Game (UlraStar-deluxe) via Advaned Launcher but it fails...
I allways got the following Error

Code:
UltraStar Deluxe V 1.1.0 Build Error Log
Date: 18-6-14 Time: 16:52:14
-------------------
ERROR:  Initialize failed, Removing - SDL_Playback

So I thought there is a problem with the Windowmanager and I installed kde-plasma-desktop.
After this the HTPC boots into the KDE-login screen.
When I start the xbmc-session everything fine works with the game..

So my question is, must I install the whole kde-plasma-desktop or is there a other better way
now I'm realy caonfused.
I build up a second VM on a AMD computer. and followed the HowTo "Linux - Radeon OSS with vdpau"
And tried there to start the Gaame from Advacend Launcher and it works!

If I see it right ist the same upstart-script as for "Linux - vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing.
So i think it has nothing to to with KDE...

Can anybody explain me why it doesent work on my i3 HSW?
not shur if its importent but I found the following issue in /var/log/upstart/xbmc.log

Code:
X.Org X Server 1.15.1
Release Date: 2014-04-13
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: Linux 3.2.0-37-generic x86_64 Ubuntu

the last line

setversion 1.4 failed: Permission denied

maybe that could be the reason? ans how could I solve that?
so, that was not the problem...

I tried this

Code:
xinit /usr/bin/ufo -- :1 vt1

to fix it but it dosent change anything...

It seems that a second xsession is running but not right or without focus...

Image

here ist the debug-log

so I've no more ideas... I know to less about linux...
After some more test I guess I've a problem with the OpenGl Driver...
As I wrote above I tried to start a "little simple old" game via Advanced Launcher with no
success on my i3 HSW.

So I installed two virtuell machines on two different Workstations.
The 1st is a i5 IVB and the 2nd is a A8-5500... on both VM the game
running without any Problems...

After this I installed XBMCbuntu on a USB-Stick and tried again without success...
So If I compaire the different systems tha main different is in the OpenGL Driver.

The Virtuell Machine use his own emulated Grafik-driver... so I thougt that should be
the problem... but how could I solve it...

So tried to find some info on google but the only info I found was to create a xorg.conf but
I'm not shure that will solve my problem...
I've found another xbmc.log in /var/log/upstart/xbmc.log
this is the log after I start xbmc:

Have you try to use a small script that will close XBMC prior to start ultrastar ?

Code:
#!/bin/bash
killall -9 xbmc.bin
/usr/bin/ultrastardx
xbmc

No, I don't have because I don't know how to use...
But I searched for the Error.Log Massage in the Surcecode.
And I found the following...

Code:
// find and initialize playback interface
  DefaultAudioPlayback := nil;
  FilterInterfaceList(IAudioPlayback, MediaManager, InterfaceList);
  for i := 0 to InterfaceList.Count-1 do
  begin
    CurrentAudioPlayback := InterfaceList[i] as IAudioPlayback;
    if (CurrentAudioPlayback.InitializePlayback()) then
    begin
      DefaultAudioPlayback := CurrentAudioPlayback;
      break;
    end;
    Log.LogError('Initialize failed, Removing - '+ CurrentAudioPlayback.GetName);
    MediaManager.Remove(CurrentAudioPlayback);
  end;

and this....

killall -9 xbmc.bin

that will not work for me because I start xbmc with the startup-script frome here.

so I've to stop xbmc as follow...

Code:
sudo service xbmc stop

So I include this line in the your script but I allways have to put in the sudo password...

Why you need to start XBMC as a service? Huh
(2014-06-27, 15:23)Angelscry Wrote: [ -> ]Why you need to start XBMC as a service? Huh

It' the only way to start and stop xbmc....
If I try

Code:
killall -9 xbmc.bin

It allways starts immediately start again...

No, no, no... That's the only way to not be able to close it. As you write it, killing XBMC make it always start again and again. So you cannot close it. Another way to start XBMC would be to simply start it as user using the command :

Code:
xbmc

But it seems that the way you have choosen to install XBMC (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1429454) is really complicated.

yes, thats true...
but if I choose the virtuell console and I try
Code:
./start_ultrastardx
as root it works... the game starts
but i have a sound problem... I can't hear anything...

Code:
xbmc stop/waiting
