Is there a recommended periodic maintenance for people using MySQL to hold the video and audio database for XBMC? When I used mythtv, it shipped with a perl script that went in and did table cleaning to optimize them and make transactions faster. Does "Clean Library" do all that behind the scene?
there shouldn't be anything to be done.

it sounds strange that mythtv had such a script. don't see what it should actually do with a mysql database. usually there is nothing to clean or optimize.

things are different for a simple file sql db. but you asked for mysql and there is nothing to be done.

p.s. when xbmc/kodi changes their database scheme somewhat they create a new database in mysql automatically and import the data from an older one. so there even here is nothing to be done, except maybe deleting older databases to save some space Wink
Thanks for that. So the "Clean Library" must do it all.
yes.

it only removes entries that point to files that do not exist anymore. more is not needed.
