Certainly ion II with openelec is hard to beat. I have windows on one of mine, but only booted to win once.
The Revo 3700 (Ion2) is terrific with OpenELEC.
Yep I wouldn't trade mine for 10 android boxes.

Sorry, I'm not up on these things. What does that mean from a practical standpoint?

Quote:If you're wondering about the difference between Intel's already launched Bay Trail, Merrifield, and the upcoming Moorefield, they're fairly subtle. Bay Trail was a quad-core SoC that used Intel's own Ivy Bridge-derived graphics core, while Merrifield is a dual-core processor that uses a smaller version of a PowerVR core. Moorefield is the full quad-core variant with a 2.33GHz clock speed and a PowerVR G6430 GPU. GPU performance should be modestly better with Moorefield, both systems use a quad-cluster array, but the G6430 is optimized for higher overall performance than the G6400.
urgh. w-fi only.
yeah fun to see that they didn't even have FCC approval Smile

as a fyi
There's a wiki page that can get updated to help others when they receive the box

I wonder how many people did their pre-orders before it got pulled from the store?
Does anyone know if the newer generations of atom processors can do high quality 1080i deinterlacing? Thanks.
Since this is using a Intel Moorefield SoC and is stated as Quad Core 1.8GHz it's a good bet it's using the Atom Z3560, see http://ark.intel.com/products/81194/Inte...o-1_83-GHz

It just so happens Asus has another product made by them using the Z3560 and that is the tablet ASUS MeMo Pad 7 ME572C, so the benchmarks for this should give a good idea of the performance of the Nexus Player, see http://uk.hardware.info/productinfo/2598...estresults
To the people with ADT-1 and Android 5.0/Lollipop: Is there any way to change the resolution and/or refresh rate via the settings menu?

(5.0 for ADT-1: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/10/18/...t-changes/)
The Nexus Player has now received FCC approval and is now up for pre-order (only 3 days late). Wink
I already have a mac mini connected to the tv, which boots automatically into xbmc when turned on

whats the benefits of having a box like fire tv or this google box? is it because it uses android store, so i can download apps like viaplay, nrk (streaming stuff).

and i guess i can install xbmc just by allowing apks or maybe having it rooted.

But ye, what ar the benefits? is there any reason for me to sell the mac mini
