The only way your going to be able to use a vpn on a firetv is if you have a compatible router that allows you to run a vpn via the router itself as far as i know there is no way of installing a vpn directly onto a fire tv or fire stick, personally ive have an Asus ac68u running Merlin Asuswrt so iam able to selectively route vpn to any specific device.

I have the same router. I can enable vpn for only certain devices through the router? Could you point me to a tutorial on how to set this up?

I think it depends on your vpn provider
Why does it have to be done using a VPN, and not DNS settings? Given the DNS settings method works when using my laptop, and it also allows me to play the free stuff through Kodi on my Amazon Fire TV?

When my AFTV is plugged into my normal router the free stuff doesn't play on NBC on Kodi... but when it's plugged into my router which has the unblockus DNS settings I can play the free stuff, it just says to check my username and password when I play premium stuff. That's why I'm confused... 'cause it seems like the router with unblockus's DNS settings is getting past that region lock...

You can use a dns provider i personally find them to be unreliable

I think it's something to do with the captcha. You can use a VPN to get past the captcha stage then disable it and watch using a DNS service if speeds an issue but erack hasn't figured a way past the captcha yet, hence it won't work with a DNS service. Still worth paying for a VPN though for such a good addon. I had a fire stick that I had to sell because I couldn't use a VPN on it and didn't want to buy a VPN enabled router.
If anyone wants a free 6 month trail of smartdnsproxy go here https://www.smartdnsproxy.com/SignUp 100% legit

Is xfinity not Comcast? I had the same issue I had to keep changing locations in my VPN until one of the USA ones worked.

i have no idea the place i got it from said its the same as direct tv? i can access okay from the website but would like the addon to work for me as i use kodi on an android box
save me reading back through all these pages I'm getting there's a problem logging into the this addon. I'm using a VPN which I've used since day one and I'm also logging in using a username and password which worked a week or two ago now it keeps telling me to check username and password. I am playing the free stuff no problem. Any suggestions how to get logged in?
I use the official app on my windows phone and kodi app. I have both using the dns method. Both use the same official login. Windowphone works, kodi doesnt.
Hi, any chance you could get CableOne.net accounts working on this plugin?
Just to confirm, if you have XFinity Or Comcast (Same thing) accounts and are trying to use SmartDNS through the KODI app, it will not work - it will work on the official NBCSn app/website, but not through Kodi. Erack has confirmed this is to do with the Captcha system that XFinity/Comcast uses. XFinity/Comcast + SmartDNS + KODI App = Won't Work.

A VPN with American location does however work. One way around this (What I personally use, thanks to Olliepop) is to connect via VPN and SmartDNS, login through KODI app, once connected, disconnect VPN and let SmartDNS take over - SmartDNS is more stable for me personally.

If you are on FireTv, just use the official app, from what I've seen difference in quality is minimal.

Zorb - Erack has mentioned that he can add any Cable Providers to the KODI app, but needs login details first so he can code it into the app. If you are willing to give him your CableOne.net details, I'm sure he can add it (Obviously don't post them on the thread!)
Thats the dilema I have, account isn't mine, its a friends in the Us that has let me use hers. If it was mine I would have no problems etc.
I use a vpn not smart-dns so why do I get script errors while on the vpn but do not get them when not on the vpn?

Your VPN service is not a good one. First try to change the cities and if still getting error try another VPN.
