When I scan for new contents in my TV shows sources, this "show" keeps getting created. What is it? And can I have kodi not create it?

You most likely have a show that is misnamed or not correctly scanned for some reason.
What file is being named this? In confluence at least you can see the full path and filename in the info screen.

Okay, figured it out. Should have looked at the log files first )-:
First, "Telly Addicts" was a BBC TV show. So that meant the scanner was treating my video source, which just happened to be named "Telly", as the show to search for. Makes sense.
Why it did that? for the scan settings (for the TVDB scraper), I had set the flag for "folder contains one TV show". doh!
Unsetting that, no more Telly Addicts, and the rest of my TV shows now get scanned correctly.
