Hi
I have just installed the Prometheus build for kodi on the Shield and it's awesome but one thing I cannot do, that I have been able to in other builds, is add local sources.
Where is the best place to do this? I have tried both Video Add ons and System File Manager but as soon as I add the local source, it simply adds it as a source in the list, it doesn't prompt you to tell it what type of files are there.
This normally pops up after you have chosen the source, you get to tell it whether it's TV shows or Movies, name the source and then it would scan the content. I would then add that content as a submenu to the main movies and TV shows on the home page.
Any ideas please?
Sorry Mike, I couldn't read every page so I apologize if this has been asked and answered already. Is there any chance of adding a button to just disable menu items so they don't show up on the main screen all the time? I like to keep options limited so my kids can't muck around places I don't want them! I know I could just set up a password, but I thought I'd ask. Thanx!

Right now, no - see Skin Shortcuts FAQ:
Cannot hide a menu entry. However, I believe an acceptable way to implement it has now been found, so it should be available in the future.
I had read that before, I just wondered since it is possible in Aeon Nox to enable/disable. Thanx for the reply.

mike,
In bannerplex mode no flags are displayed on shows (watched, new),
possible fix?
I made a build wizard with aeon silvo. But when i tried to install it on my android box it says: skin failed to install. Some parts are missing. Gui 5.3.0.
I have tried to change it in addon.xml but nothing happend.
Anyone?
Hi Mike,
Thanks for all your work on this mod, it really makes for the closest thing to a perfect skin I've seen! I was using Aeon MQ as it was the only skin I could find which offered the level of customisation I need but the downside was that it can be overly complex and a little busy. Nox Silvo somehow offers just the right amount of customisation without becoming overbearing and remaining 'clean' looking - very well done.
One weird bug I have noticed and a request if I may:
1) Has anyone else noticed that the script.tv.show.next.aired script randomly fires on the home screen and takes you to a weird TV guide type screen? I've had to uninstall the script on the NUC as it just appears randomly when scrolling around on the home screen. I captured a
debug log of when this happened, hopefully it offers a clue.
2) Is there any chance you could add some customisation to the PVR Recorded TV page? I now use Kodi as a total replacement for a cable/satellite box so have now built up a reasonable size recordings library. I find the list only showing 7 items to be a little limiting - would it be possible to add an option for half-height rows thus doubling the number of listed items? Also, could something be done with the dead space on the right hand side of this page? Estuary's use of that space is pretty good, they give quite a lot of programme info when individual episodes are highlighted and nice summary of the folders contents for folders:
I've had a stab at some of this, I've managed to double the line count and add dates to the folders but am stuck at trying to port extra info as seen in Estuary, I really want to replicate those 3 side panes!

Those need to be enabled twice. Once in skin settings and again in the views settings (enable status indicators). I probably need a better solution but for now that is how it works.

#1, partial debug logs are not helpful cause I have no idea what your system is (OS, platform, Kodi version) or what is installed. Most issues come from using poorly coded add-ons, repos, or anything like those that are, or may eventually be, on the
banned add-on (wiki) list. It also doesn't let me know what the system was doing prior to the error so I have no idea if it is script, widget, or some unholy combination of who knows what...
#2, I originally had a tuner card but it crapped out on me so Live TV is currently not on my priorities list since "If I don't use it I don't really work on it"
Pushed some language sync updates. If anybody willing can install the latest jarvis branch from GitHub, look for any missing text, and report back... I'd appreciate it
Thanks.
Hi Bob
I have seen your post but could you help further as per Ryan issue I am having the same problem I have edited the script in skin.aeon.nox.silvo.properties file from
['mainmenu', 'colorblack-movies-color', 'background', u'C:\\Users\\chris\\AppData\\Roaming\\Kodi\\userdata\\Backgrounds\\Movies\\'],
to
['mainmenu', 'colorblack-movies-color', 'background', u'special:\\home\\Kodi\\userdata\\Backgrounds\\Movies\\'],
But as per Ryan it takes the backgrounds out. Checked the file location which is correct so can only think my script edits are wrong.
thanks

I presume you mean when you're copying the userdata folder from one system to the other? Assuming that the backgrounds are both accessible from the same path (best to use the special protocol (wiki)), then go to userdata (wiki)/addon_data/script.skinshortcuts/ and edit skin.aeon.nox.silvo.properties in your favourite text editor and change the paths there.
Please backup the file first as the file isn't designed to be manually edited and, if you get it wrong, it can lead to backgrounds disappearing or even the script being unable to build the menu and the best support I'll be able to offer you is to restore your backup or delete the file.
Hi Bob
Sorry to bother u again I have found the script file and the links to the main menu items.
There is a background and background name which says c:// ........I have seen a video which say delete all txt shown so that it shows special://appdata/backgrounds/.......... (Which is where I have saved my background file) But this doesn't work it just knocks all backgrounds and widgets out? What line of script should it say?
Thanks
Ryan
(2016-03-09, 01:28)BobCratchett Wrote: [ -> ]This is a simple example of a .properties file:-
Code:
[['mainmenu', 'weather', 'background', u'/Users/bobC/Pictures/stock_pictures/file0001.jpg'],
['mainmenu', 'weather', 'backgroundName', u'/Users/bobC/Pictures/stock_pictures/file0001.jpg'],
['mainmenu', 'weather', 'icon', 'special://skin/extras/icons/DefaultAddonWeather.png']]
The first column is the group - in your case, if you want to change the location for a main menu item, look for "mainmenu". The second represents the individual item, based on its label (what the script calls the labelID). The third is the property name, and the fourth is the value.
So, if I wanted to change the 'background' property (which is the path to the background associated with the menu item) for my Weather menu item on the main menu, I'd edit the fourth column of the first row. The 'backgroundName' property is just the name of the background, if the skin wants to display it, and isn't used to determine which image is shown.
If you have edited the relevant line in your own .properties file to the special protocol path and the background now isn't showing either the background isn't where you've specified, or you've made a mistake whilst editing so that Skin Shortcuts can't correctly parse the file. Unfortunately, neither are issues that I can assist with.
