I won't make it like Warners mod cause then there is no need for me to add it since his already exists. Anything I add will always have to be at least a little diffrent, otherwise I would have no interest in adding it. I always liked BigNoids addition of poster_back.png and I plan to replace the black.png seen behind the labels in the photo you posted everywhere (still have some to replace). I use IMDb rating update myself and it is a good recommendation.

Just had a thought... surprised it didn't occur to me before. I already have the two separate widgets coded perhaps the best course of action would be to have compact only show the info on the poster when focused. Expanded can have the labels always on and I could either change position of the label and put the title above the poster and the rating below the poster or I could keep it the same… Just brainstorming

My little hypnosis joke aside... here's some discussion.
My personal ideal would obviously be text onfocus only, and I like text on the poster more than under it, and I like the amber color slightly more than white. The IMDB rating I could take or leave. The thinking is, for me, that I can generally tell just fine what the movie is just by looking at the poster thumb but having the title pop in onfocus could be helpful at times. Also the text and gradient shadow coming in makes it clearer where the focus is.
If you can manage to hook into dialogvideoinfo that would be super if only for consistency's sake. Plus I'm all about Cinema Experience and looking up extended info on actors and such, having dialogvideoinfo be the last step before pressing "play" has a lot of value IMHO.

My opinion on the best way to handle all of these preferences (so far) would be to have compact as you described and expanded have the labels and rating always there for quick perusal. I can not think of a better way to accommodate all the different opinions. I do however realize that some will not get there exact way but it is impossible to create something loved by all, I can only do my best to achieve as many satisfied users as I can. I will always be open to changing things in the future, unless it is something I truly love but even still a good idea can easily overshadow one of mine

Makes it a little confusing when you initially set up the skin. Maybe there could be a check box that will configure both with the same background image.

Do you want me to add those lines or is there an issue with it not correctly showing FSK-0? What does ember place in the nfo file under <mpaa>?

Does the above work for you? Regarding the submenu backgrounds, they are the same as the main item so it should just work if you have a background set for that item in the main menu customizer.
Yes there was an issuse with the fsk-0 on video info is the icon there and at playback in the osd was the not ratet icon after
Adding these lines fsk-0 the icon shows correctly in the link is the corrected variables !!
Fsk12 and fsk 6shows ok before i changend something in the variables !! 16 and not tested before !!
The problem was only with ember i think its the naming of ember germany:0 and not fsk 0.
I just pushed an update to Git with the final versions of the extended info, movies, and video playlist widgets. It is still WIP but if you want to help out with bug reports it will save me a lot of testing time. I will probably release it before they are 100% since it has been hard to find the time recently to test and code. As of now the most glaring issue is episode widgets in compact mode and there is no expanded for the others not mentioned.
