so I had Lubuntu installed, nVidia drivers installed, and Kodi installed and working without issue.

My desktop fonts were all stupid sized, and after researching it it seems it's a known issues with nVidia drivers on Linux, and I had to run nvidia-xconfig to generate an xorg.conf file (I didn't have one previously) to generate proper DPI settings for my TV.

After doing that, my desktop now has proper DPI, however Kodi is now crashing on startup, so I'm fairly certain the cause is the xorg.conf file that was just generated.
I tried deleting the xorg.conf, and rebooting to see if Kodi would run as normal, but now xorg.conf is coming back automatically, and Kodi is continuing to crash on startup.

The log file doesn't show anything, if you launch xbmc from command line does it show any output?

Code:
/usr/lib/kodi/kodi.bin
Or wherever the kodi binary is located.
tried running from UXTerm within desktop, results: (this was with Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver unplugged, see below)
Code:
mini@mini:~$ /usr/lib/kodi/kodi.bin
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
mini@mini:~$

however, on a whim, decided to try running it via shortcut again, and lo and behold, it ran, except for the fact that it seemed like someone was holding down the left arrow. I could hit right on the keyboard, but it would immedately move left again.
Looked at what had changed since then, and the result was that I unplugged my xbox 360 wireless receiver, so, process of elimination, plugged it back in, and xbmc crashed on startup again.

TL;DR Results (a controller was not paired either time, only the receiver was plugged in)

reboot system with Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver unplugged
Kodi runs, main screen, PICTURES auto selected. (one menu item to left).
I hit these buttons int he following order
[Right Arrow] (selection briefly changes, then goes back to PICTURES)
[Right Arrow] (selection briefly changes, then goes back to PICTURES)
[Right Arrow] (selection briefly changes, then goes back to PICTURES)
[Down Arrow] (selection moved to submenu)
[Down Arrow] (selection moved to power button)
[Enter] (power menu popped up, exit was selected)
[Enter] (kodi quit)

at line 441, it shows the right key being pressed, but on screen, I can see the selection briefly change one to the right, before immediately swapping one to the left
Also, when moving the mouse over a menu item to the right, I can see it highlight briefly, then immediately move back to PICTURES. moving mouse back and forth over another menu item creates a strobe effect, of whatever's under the mouse highlighting for a milisecond, then the selection moving back to PICTURES

I also saw that in the crash logs, it couldn't give a stack trace because gdb wasn't installed. If need be, I can install that.
sudo apt-get install gdb and reproduce the crashlog

gdb installed, crash log with stack trace: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=358908

if it helps with debugging, I'm running the xbox 360 wireless driver located here: https://launchpad.net/~rael-gc/+archive/...tu-xboxdrv
