Two days ago everything was fine and working. Today when i started Kodi, all settings seems to have been reset, without me doing anything, and i didn't have sound anymore. This has happened before, but usually is fixed with selecting the right sound output device again. But this time it didn't work, and i don't even think that the device i should use is available in the list. According to the log this is the only two devices i have and can select:

And none of these produce any sound. I think i should have some digital output, since i want the sound to go through my HDMI cable.

aplay -L gives me:

I don't know why the settings is reset and i cant select the right output. Didn't make a update to Kodi in a few weeks, but even doing a new git pull now didn't help. My version is Kodi (14.0-RC1 Git:2014-11-30-bcfc032).
And two days ago everything was working fine, and then didn't use Kodi, using only MythTV for LiveTV, switching back and sound was gone.

But maybe i need to supply the full log?
Somehow you managed to install pulseaudio and did not configure it properly.

Very strange.

How can that be possible? I used Kodi on thursday, been away 3 days and now it don't work. Nothing have been installed during that time. And I don't have any kind of auto update on my Ubuntu.
I have never used pulse audio. Wouldn't even know how to configure it, don't even want to use it.

Would it be enough to remove pulseaudio, do i need to use it since i never done it before? Remove and everything works again?

But why wont Kodi show me my other output devices? MythTV has a list more like what aplay -L shows.
I don't know much about this, but since it worked a few days ago and MythTV still works, and i didn't do anything, besides i git pull after i noticed it wasn't working.

But can't Kodi use ALSA? I guess that is what MythTV is using. I can accept when i mess with things and it breaks, but this time i didn't do anything and it still broke. Annoying to not be able to use Kodi.

Any hints to get the sound working again is appreciated.
Yes kodi can use alsa.

What is needed to enable this? Even with pulseaudio installed, that i'm not using, i guess i should be able to select ALSA alternatives as output, like i have in MythTV?
Start xbmc with this commandline:

AE_SINK=ALSA xbmc

(or kodi if you are up to there).

Also the manual: http://kodi.wiki/view/PulseAudio

Thank you! Now it works again =)
