Full Version: AFTV audio passthrough only via SPDIF, not HDMI

Hi,

Kodi 14 won't allow me to passthrough 5.1 audio (AC3/DTS) via HDMI on my FireTV, only via SPDIF.

Setup 1:
FireTV -> HDMI -> TV -> SPDIF -> Receiver
Result: Receiver only gets stereo input. The exact same setup works perfectly well with a Raspberry Pi.

Setup 2:
FireTV -> SPDIF -> Receiver
Result: Receiver gets 5.1 signal correctly.

Any idea on how I could get Setup 1 to work?
did you check that it is set correctly in KFTV launcher? Can you confirm it works when you play content from amazon in surround? For my part, DTS passthrough works fine but AC3 DD doesn't and I believe it's a problem between the AFTV and my particular model of sony receiver that is very old.
Hi _DNA_,

I tried all combinations in the launcher (DD via HDMI, DD via optical etc.), doesn't make a difference.

Amazon's own videos play perfectly fine in DD5.1 using the exact same setup, so it must have something to do with Kodi...
