Full Version: What's the right passthrough setting for secondary monitor on receiver?

Hello All,

I'm using an Nvidia video card. Primary display is my LCD monitor. My video card's secondary ouput is connected to Denon Receiver, with passthrough enabled. Denon's output is connected to the LCD TV. I used to be able to watch xbmc on the TV, with either Receiver on (to have 5.1 output) or off, just plain stereo. I didn't check out what the audio settings were then. Now, no audio comes out without receiver turned on.

I have in my audio devices the following as options:

Directsound: syncmaster (my monitor)
Directsound: Denon
Directsound: Default

Wasapi or something: syncmaster
Wasapi: Denon

Sorry, I'm not in front right now, so cannot give the exact. But that's basically it more or less.

What should be my Window's main audio? syncmaster? What should be XBMC's main audio output? What should be done with enable passthrough? What setting should it be set? 5.1, 2.0 only? To allow TV to play. Most shows I've downloaded are either 720p or 1080p, at least DTS and AAC.

Hope to hear from you guys soon. Thanks.
