Hi all--I have a rooted FireTV and have been running Kodi version 15 alpha (a development build). I'd like to install a version/flavour of Kodi that includes a launcher, so that the FireTV boots directly into Kodi.

I found this thread, which has a link to install Kodi 14 Helix along with a launcher:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthre...?t=2790392

I'm just trying to figure out the proper steps to take, in order to do the installation and preserve my Kodi 15 settings (sources, skins, etc). I've used adbFire to back up my existing Kodi 15 installation. What's my next steps here? Do I uninstall Kodi 15, then install the Kodi 14 .apk from that XDA forum link, which should install a fresh copy of Kodi 14...and then copy over....my userdata and addons folder from my Kodi 14 backup? Is that safe?
I think it would be the same as "Xposed and rbox module (Requires root)" described here http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Bypass_Home_on_Fire_TV
Except you dont need a separate xbmc launcher as that would be included in the package.

Perhaps I am missing somthing as I don't get the great benefit when the xbmc launcher to a great job with the stock build.
That link talks about how to set up the launcher. I'm more trying to figure out how to transfer over my settings from my previous FireTV installation of Kodi 15 (alpha) when I install a "downgraded" version of Kodi 14 Helix.
I don't think v15 has changed enough yet to where you will have any issues using all the same files in a v14-based build. If the launcher version has a different App ID then you will need to make sure you restore the .kodi folder to that location. There should also be an ADB command to uninstall without removing settings, but I don't know if adbFire has that command (I would think so?).
