I have the same problem with 14.0 and 13.2. At least on Fire TV.
XBMC/KODI does not recognise AVI files, does not scan them to library and does not show them when I simply browse files. It just ignores like it does with files with unknown extensions.
I tried to mux tracks from AVI to MKV, and then those MKV can be played without issues, so most likely it is not codec issues. Another indication that this is not codec issue is that all my AVI files are ignored, regardless of used codecs.
