so i put helix 14.0(through a usb device) on my gbox mx2 midnight and it transferred everything from our xbmc 12.0 to 14.0 and now its zoomed in the main menu screen is fine but as soon as i play a video it zooms in

That is not the fix, not even close. Turning off hardware decoding will just break more things than it fixes.
