I've tried fresh installs of both kodi and openelec and both have what seems random issues when starting different videos. Movies will play fine but when I stop and start another one, once and a while the sound will start and then the screen goes blank and then freezes. I'm guessing it's a issue with drives or the kernel? Never had any issues with XBMC Gotham. After i reset kodi I can typically play the same movie that just freezed. (But sometimes it may freeze again even after a reboot)

Does this only happen with samba shares?
Can you reproduce that with local files?
sounds like my issue on ubuntu with kodi installed seems like its allways towards end of the video but screen freezes and audio continues and XBMC will not respond i have to unplug it then plug it back in to boot back up, this is with files over smb

Debug log from local file freeze. Seems to happen when the video ends and i try to watch another one. if i stop the video and try another video it seems to not freeze. This bug only seems to happen when the first video ends on it's own and not from being stopped.
in my case i tried selecting software decoding and so far no freezes again YET, this is for my smb files i had watched a few movies on a usb drive with hardware decoding and i had not seen the issue so in m case i think its smb only
Kodi randomly crashed on my mint 17 build that much I ended up duel booting windows just to go run 13.2 again.
It could happen at the start of a video or on the launch of an addon.
