Just installed kodi 14 on a fresh install of kubuntu 14.04...looks great!

my mainboard (asus z87 plus) has two audio devices one analog and one hdmi, i am using both!

hdmi is intel gpu, if that matters

i have an hdmi cable going to a samsung 55" lcd (audio works in vlc)
i have a regular analog cable (RCA) to my desktop speakers (audio works for all desktop apps including kodi)

i went to settings->audio in kodi and selected the hdmi output for audio, but it still plays only on the desktop speakers, not thru hdmi audio?

i have tried both options in the settings and neither will output audio thru the hdmi cable to the lcd...
also looked over the wiki about pulse audio, but it seemed dated?

any ideas?

thanks

here is part of the kodi log

The relevant lines of the log were cut, sadly.

Do the following: Set kodi to windowed, play something with the "default" device and while doing that change the device PA should use in KDE's mixer program. I think it's rooting it just back.

Pulseaudio wiki is fully uptodata, nothing dated there.
thanks, couldn't remember how to run in a window mode, but that did the trick
knew it was something simple!
