I don't know what's going on, I restarted my pi and now every time I open Raspbmc it comes up with the window that says 'Relax xbmc will restart shortly, press ESC for a command line' please help if you know how to make it run correctly.
And what tells you it is not running correctly?
Have you waited to see XBMC start running?

Yes I've let it run for like ten minutes straight but it just does a continuous loop through that window.

one thing that might help is that it happened right after I ran the command 'sudo apt-get install vlc'
Raspbmc does not support the running of a complete Xwindows environment... I suspect your install of vlc installed Xorg which would definitely cause a problem. You may have earned yourself a re-install here.

Also, since Kodi support is provided here, you should seek OS specific support for Raspbmc here: http://forum.osmc.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=7
