Sorry if this is a simple simple question but I cannot find the answer despite extensive search attempts.

Is there a way to limit the number of recordings to keep for a series of scheduled recordings?

An example would be me wanting to keep just the 2 most recent recordings of the evening news.

Sounds like an 'if then' statement, smacks of code. No simple way I can think of... maybe others? An after thought, might be best handled in the download or video grabbing tool and leave Kodi to be a great multi-media player.
