The only difference is that I didn't try another version of Kodi, It was a fresh install of 15.2 on a brand new Shield...
Any ideas somebody ?

The shield doesnt have the autoframe rate implemented yet... so if you have the chosed the 23.976 (forced option) its to play videos at 23.976.

All other videos with 50hz or 60hz turn off the 23.976 feature.
what bull are you trying say here?

the SHIELD does support framerate switching WITH Kodi 15.2 and higher

Of course it does, I used kodi 16 alpha since I bought Nvidia Shield and everything was fine, but since I installed de official 15.2, I have big issue with all my 50Hz series Sad
If I want to see 23.976 movie I use NVShield and when I want to see series I have to use my openelec PI2 !
I hope someone will find a solution to my problem (but I see I'm not alone Wink )
I add that I tested all frequency on the NVShield video settings and always the same issue...
You're not alone Smile

"Lot of stutter with sd source".
For me it was only with interlaced sd content, but I didn't go further in this, since I was already not happy with HD PQ.

I see you're talking about SD source, but in my case it's on 50Hz HD source, may be the problem IS 50Hz support Huh?
As I told before I didn't have this problem with kodi 16 alph, I just changed to official kodi 15.2 because I don't need HD sound Wink , may be I have to go back to kodi 16 alpha Wink
Playback is still choppy in the latest Nightly after a while in 50hz, going in and out. Perfect on my mac mini with the same source in 50z.

Edit: Maybe not still.. I need more time to evaluate it.
sorry
In the nightly I do get choppy playback for a min after first starting a video then goes away.

Try the 20151026 nightly build once it's out. It should include a change in video rendering (which should already be in the 20151024 build) and a fix for valid refresh rate limits. Not sure what last is is supposed to do, but it "might" improve issues that you're seeing.
I have stutter with 15.2 on most Videos. The same Videos i can play without problems with Plex or over dlna.
23.976 or 50Hz video ?
Did you try with kodi 16 alpha ?
50hz i think. I have a Samsung UE55JS9080.

It happens only with 25fps videos. I tried 29.97 and 23.976 and they are played perfectly !
