Full Version: Have To "Re-Share" My Folder When Adding New Video

I recently sold my Apple TV 2 and purchased a Chromebox where I have a dual boot setup, running OpenElec 5.0.6, using the Aeon Nox Skin, version 5.6.0. I have a separate computer where I share three different folders called “Movies”, “TV Series”, and “Kids Movies”. I am able to connect to those folders via SMB no problem, and I use Playlists in Kodi to differentiate the media. Here is my problem, which I never experienced with the Apple TV 2: When I add a new show or movie to any of the shared folders, I refresh the playlist and the file shows up….however, when I go to play it, nothing happens. The only way I can get the file to play is if I go back to my computer and re-share the folder. Why is that? Am I missing a setting in OpenELEC? Any help would be appreciated. Here is my log file as I try to play a movie called “Walter”. Thanks.

That is not a debug log (wiki).
***Update: I use a script that automatically places movie files in my "Movies" folder via SABNzbd. Once these movies are downloaded, I cannot initially play them in Kodi. However, I moved the file out of the folder and then moved it back and then was able to play it. Weird. Why cant I initially play the movie after it has been downloaded??'

@nickr: I will try to post a debug log. Thanks.
Here is the link to my debug log as I try to play the movie Interstellar:

Clearly a permssions error, but why, I am unsure.

Next movie that downloads, please do an ls -l of the movie file. Then do what you do to make the movie watchable and then ls -l again. A comparison should show some thing different.

eg
Code:
ls -l /path/to/file.mp4
I'm sorry, but I dont know how to do that. Am I performing that command in Putty while SSH'd into Chromebox? These movie files are on a Windows PC.
OH Ok your files are served by windows. Then you might need to right click and look at properties - there will be security & ownership details. Compare before and after.
The main difference I see is when the file is initially downloaded is in the Group or Usernames where "Authenticated Users" is listed. Once I share the folder again so that Kodi can read the files, "Authenticated Users" goes away and is replaced by "Everyone". So, I guess the question is, why isn't "Everyone" listed to begin with since the folder was already sharedHuh? Help??
Dunno much about windows sorry.
Ok, well, here is a picture of the difference. If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
