I have a problem where when i use the web interface to pick things, the images are all distorted for TV Shows. It doesn't happen to my movies, and it happens regardless of version of XBMC/KODI

I have rpi running xbmc and one running kodi and its the same on both. They're both on raspbian

Thats because its loading the banner version of each show....... My guess its trying to fit all the images into a set amount of space so it distorts it. What happens when you click the "Poster" view on the top left?

The default web interface is pretty lacking, there are better options (my opinion) located here.
