I am experiencing this bug, and I can reproduce it on my 3 Raspberry Pi's ... (this might not mean much as they are all configured the same).

if I add a video addon to my favorites (an addon that streams online content), and I try to open the streams associated with those addons via the favorite menu, they don't play at all, I can browse the streams by category (depending on the addon)... I can get to the steam itself, but when I try to play it, it does absolutely nothing... navigating and playing the contents of those addons via the addon menu in File mode or library works fine.

this is skin-independent, I can reproduce this in every skin I have tried.

... while troubleshooting, i've tried "tricking" addons into showing up in the programs menu by switching the <provide> tag from "video" to "executable" ... and the same issue occurs in the "my programs" page... video streams don't play, i've tried this with a bunch of streaming addons and they all behave the same.

im on openelec, v14.2

any help appreciated.

1) Look in /storage/.kodi/temp/kodi.log
2) Find the error message and from it determine the name of the addon that is causing the error
3) Search/post in the relevant addon support thread.

this is not addon specific,... 95% of them do this.

Addons work fine themselves if they are run via the addon menu... the problem happens when you try to run them via the favorites menu ... so I don't think I should start making a thread in every single addon support thread ... I would have to create a dozen threads that are the same.

- there is no error message, nothing happens when a stream is selected
- this particular example is HGTV app ... but most do the same thing.

from what I can see in the log, it seems like instead of running the stream, it saves something locally ... its as if the "execute" function in the Favorites menu calls a different function then in the Addons/Video menu
