How can I disable/uninstall DVDPlayer completely?

No matter what I try (e.g. context menu -> play using...), Kodi launches DVDPlayer for the https stream of my video add-on. Strange thing is, Kodi log shows DVPlayer is the default player but context menu shows DSPlayer as default player.
You need to configure playercorefactory.xml. Unfortunately I'm not sitting at a machine where I could copy mine for you.
EDIT2: See my follow-up post a couple of posts below.

Using DSPlayer as default used to work with a previous Kodi and/or video add-on version, without needing to tweak mediasconfig at all.

I tried but Kodi doesn't let me edit mediasconfig_internal.xml - I would presumably need to add "https" to the first rule that contains mkv etc. and uses xysubfilter and such. In the "regular" mediasconfig.xml that is supposed to be copied to userdata, there is no sign of xysubfilter etc., not even https. Only a http rule which for some reason doesn't contain any LAV filters.

EDIT: In short, I'm trying to get DSPlayer to launch as default player for https streams, using the internal LAV filters. Just don't know how to accomplish that.
Hi,

Quote:Sometimes the same thing happens even when seeking or pausing.

This happens to me if Am watching anything from any of the file hosts,Say if am watching an episode from Hugefiles or ClickNupload and I pause,When I press play it immediately stops playback (sometimes after couple seconds to a minute). Same when trying to seek.

This has been happening since 15.2 earlier was fine,I thought it was something to do with the addon or the file host problem.

Regards.

Edit: OK, I changed "DVDPlayer" to "DSPlayer"... and it seems to work!

I guess there must be a rule to direct EVERYTHING to DSPlayer though? I remember an "everything else" type of rule but I'd need to eliminate DVDPlayer altogether so it will never ever launch by accident.

(Hopefully) FINAL EDIT: To "disable" DVDPlayer, I simply deleted stuff from playercorefactory.xml so that now the rule just reads: player=DSPlayer. Seems to work but please let me now if this not "acceptable" for whatever scenario.
(2016-04-29, 12:26)ashlar Wrote: [ -> ]Ok, I give up. I've been trying to debug this strange thing that's happening to me for at least three weeks. Now I ask to see if anybody had/has the same problem.

Seemingly at random, when I start a video, it starts and then stops by itself almost immediately. Sometimes the same thing happens even when seeking or pausing.

Debug logs show nothing, save for the fact that DSPlayer is stopping. No error, no warning level events.

Has anybody else seen this happening?

I had a bunch of issue (still one left to resolve, randomly no audio at system startup but don't think it's Kodi related) but not that one Smile

Is this occuring with files being on a network share? local drive? Both?
Are there logs on madVR side? Maybe it's the renderer that calls for a stop?
They are files on a network share. But I don't have any errors from madVR.

Could it be the files? Does DVDPlayer show the same behaviour?

1. What OS - Win10 by any chance?
2. Are the files on a dedicated NAS or perhaps a USB drive attached to a router?
3. Have you tried raising the network analysis duration value in LAV settings?

(Just asking because I had set up a backup solution for my dad's PC that started showing similar behavior: connection to the mapped drive (Win10 -> USB-disk attached to an Asus router) was lost near-immediately after backup started. Previously everything worked fine. I read somewhere on Google that this is supposedly a Win10 bug introduced with some update but that it should be fixed soon.)
Win 8.1, regular server with plenty of RAM and processing power.

No, I haven't. I'll try that too with LAV filters.

The bad thing is no information in logs, it makes it pretty much impossible to debug.

I'm pretty sure the problem is on your side. I installed 16.1 over a previous build and I had no problem at all with playercorefactory.xml...
