Well, I have been using XBMC for ages, and its been running fine for a good while, absolutely no issues at all. You know that old saying "if it aint broke dont fix it" well you went and tried to fix it, god alone knows why.
Tonight I thought, I would upgrade to the new and supposedly improved Kodi, everything went nice and smooth, until I reboot.
Kodi opens fine, then as soon as I press play I have a crash, nice blue screen,

Kodi is not as good, whatever you did, undoo it please
Or, maybe, you're having an issue that is somewhat specific to your situation and is not a general issue? The only major crash issue that I know of for Windows should have been fixed for Kodi v14.2, and the cause of that crash had nothing to do with the name change.

I'll let you in on a little secret, no one tries to fix things that are not broken. They try to fix things that are broken, and sometimes that causes another issue. Most of the time we catch it and fix it before a release, but no one is perfect.
What a ridiculous post. Kodi IS XBMC 14, it's just a name change. If your system broke between XBMC 12 and 13 would you have written this?

And not even a hint of a log file. Have you even tried to work out what the problem is ?
I undid the changes for you - grab the new version here:

Priceless!
I do not understand this. Kodi was a replacement for XBMC, a new version etc.
Since my update to Kodi I have problem after problem, reboots and crashes all caused by Kodi

I think I need to revert back to Media portal. Shame, XBMC was good then it got updated again and again, and finally Kodi, now its not as good.
a "replacement"? huh. without at least documenting your issues, posting logs, no one will be able to help you.
probably won't get any other responses
the problem is on your side i think, tell us your problem and we will try to help you Wink
It is not a replacement, it is a rename. I seriously doubt that had we not changed those 4 letters that your issues would be any different.

If you would like help with your issues then you need to actually give some details. Otherwise, I don't know what to say. v14.2 works great for me on Windows.
Kodi 14.2 is awesome, Running on Windows, Pi and Android. Rock solid here, so expect this is either your configuration or the use of dodgy addons......

That there is the problem. User error doesn't mean a problem with the program Tongue
Kodi formally known as XBMC is a great program and has million of satisfied users with that said yes problems can arise and in order to help and pinpoint your problem and possible suggest a solution you must share your logs. Their are million computers and all with different hardware, software, plugins, addons, configurations and settings that giving a blanket answer is not possible and especially impossible with out knowing anything about your problem.
It's interesting, I've now seen at least three of these sorts of trolls. I'm new to Kodi, never had XBMC, am pretty much a novice with computers and aside from a couple of small issues (one of which was user error) Kodi has been solid.
I must agree: I had the same issue on my pi. After the upgrade to 14.2 it's rock solide again
