Afternoon all.

Im getting this issue now also.

This is my setup:
iMac with Displayport to HDMI adapter > HDMI to Onkyo TXR509 > HDMI to TV

Im running Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.4

Running Kodi 14.2

When using any surround sound channel (DTS/Dolby Digital etc) the audio is cutting out for around 2/3 seconds at a time.
This will happen roughly once every 2 or 3 minutes.

Getting quite frustrated with it now as going through this thread, I'm not sure how to resolve it.

Can anyone provide some assistance?

Thanks,
Steven
Further testing done with this one.
Tried a local file instead of one on the network = Issue Present
Installed same Kodi version as a fresh install on a different laptop, plugged that into my setup = Issue Present
Used a different receiver (two in household) = Issue Present
Different HDMI Cable = Issue Present
Different HDMI adapter = Issue Present

With the above it proves more of an issue with Software.

So further testing with settings on software:
Under Settings > Video > Playback:
Enabled sync playback to display, cycled through all A/v Sync methods but all same result = Issue Present

Under Settings > System > Audio Output
Changed Keep Audio Device alive to any options = Issue Present

Turned off Enable Passthrough (Which in turn, turns off DD and DTS capable receiver) = Issue still Present

Changed number of channels to 2.0 = Issue Present

Kept Channels at 2.0 and turned off passthrough = Issue Present

------
When the audio stops, its like it stops streaming audio to the receiver.
It shows as dropping the input stream before re-restablishing.

20:49:28 T:4809297920 DEBUG: CoreAudio: audiodevicelist changed - reenumerating

disable airplay on your living room apple tv and tell me if this solves your issue ... looks like that atv vanishs and reappears from time to time. OSX detects this as vanishing / appearing audio device. In the end Kodi registers this as change in the audio devices as well and needs to teardown/restart the audio engine.

BTW the best settings for you are
disable passthrough
set speaker config to 5.1 (or whatever the number of speakers you have)
disable a/v sync and sync to display
enable refresh rate adaption instead.

Disabling Airplay did it!

So is this a bug thats already being looked at?
This is a bug which is purely apple. Just look into your audio devices in osx settings - you can see that your appletv output device comes and goes. Nothing we can do about it. We need to reset the audioengine whenever the device list changes for multiple reasons.

This might even be related with the used network components which are involved between your mac and the appletv.

This might be the cause of the problem. As said - apple needs to fix this.
