I have a strange audio issue. When i see a movie, i get a popping/crackling noise every once in a while. Sometimes it won't happen for a minute, then it will happen every 5 or 10 minutes. E.g the specific stats with the movie i am having problems with are: 1509 kbps, 48 KHz, 24 bits, 6 channels, DTS. Problem persists even if i use my headphones, so i guess it is a problem related with linux/openelec/nuc's audio card?

Has anyone else discovered this problem?

My setup:

IntelĀ® NUC Kit DN2820FYKH with Kingston KVR16LS11/4 (4 GB) Ram. In usb ports (back)

1) Flirc controller (https://flirc.tv/)
2) TRANSCEND TS8GJF780 JETFLASH 780 8GB USB3.0 FLASH DRIVE BLACK

Bios: 0050 + latest kodi installation from openelec (OpenELEC-Generic.x86_64-5.0.8.tar)
No Debug Log - no problem.

Sorry you are right

As far as I can see, you are using your NUC directly connected to the TV?

Are you sure your TV supports DTS? Is this happening only with DTS files? Some TV's can't do DTS. So I would check audio settings and if you have passthrough enabled I would uncheck all DTS options.

But it's only a guess...fritsch will know more Wink
Yes i hear audio through hdmi (connected to my TV - Samsung HDMI in kodi's audio settings). But the same problem persists even if i use my headphones (Analog in kodi's audio settings). I dont have passthrough enabled also..

So i guess the problem relies on somewhere else..Sad
Retry from local disk, please - same issue?
Same issue from usb stickSad Always the same crackling sounds..

There are some video files though - where the problem is less audible. I thing it is smth with openelec's linux drivers or my nuc's audio card..
If it was something on OE's linux drivers - then this issue would have several thousand OE users that are running exactly your hw.

Please post another Debug Log when running from usb stick.

Also try to turn off(!) Adjust Refreshrate to match video and Sync Playback to Display for a second test.
Well..i thing i found where the problem relies thanks to fritsch !!

When i disabled "sync playback to display" (set it to off) i didnt have any audio crackling sounds !!

So i guess the problem was the A/V sync method which was in drop/dupe audio. Any ideas what are the best options for my nuc in this menu? Are there any problems if i leave it to off?

Depends.

If(!) you want to use Passthrough audio, Sync Playback to Display does not make sense. As we cannot alter the audio to fit to screen, besides dropping and duping.
Thanks manSmile
