If I add a entry to /etc/hosts manually for "Core" im able to play the mythtv recordings fine. All the recordings i tested where recorded with 0.23-fixes svn as of a couple days ago.

Hard drive failures always suck

There was alot of changes from mythtv 0.21 to 0.22....i lucked out and my upgrade went relatively smoothly.

Ill include the new output from xbmc...but it does not look like it contains any good new info.

Been using XBMC camelot standalone on ubuntu karmic for a while now.

Installed the latest mythtv 0.22 yesterday and now my XBMC shutdown/restart buttons
don`t work anymore, it just kicks me out to the login screen like the exit button does.

Did I do something wrong, what exactly changed/caused this?
Is there a patch or quick fix?

Ps. before this I also started noticing my PC shutdown with XBMC has been getting progressively slower.
Any idea why or what i can do?

hmm. I think your mistaken in that mythtv has nothing to do with buttons in xbmc. It think it would be best for you to post your question in a new thread...or perhaps search around the forum for similar issues(shutdown button in xbmc)

I have formatted my PC and tried it several times, my XBMC reboot and shutdown works fine until I install mythtv, then it stops.
My machine boots straight into my XBMC (now with mythtv)
I played around a bit more and I think when I installed mythtv something changed in some policy.
In the background I get this call it 'error' if I may:

I'm not an expert on this kind of stuff - but I also have Myth running on Ubuntu Karmic. I don't think your problem is with XBMC so much as it is a problem with your Ubuntu setup. I've seen that error message before, and it is due to more than 1 user having an active session on the machine when shutting down (obviously). I would check what users some programs like myth and XBMC are running as. I'm also assuming you have Ubuntu set to auto-login as a certain user at startup. Are there any other user profiles (like a mythTV user) that are logging in active sessions as well.

Like I said, not an expert, but doing some more research on mythTV and that particular Ubuntu error will probably solve the problem Definitely not an XBMC problem.

Is there something wrong with Mythtv 0.23 or I have another problem. I am trying to play live tv from a mythbuntu 10.04 mythtv backend and all I get is a freeze of xbmc.

However, regarding the log, there seems to be no problems :


Any ideas ? Similar problems ? Will it be fixed in the next release to come soon ?

I think your definition of "No problems" and mine differ somewhat.

From the looks of this, it seems that there is a communication problem between your XBMC box and the Myth Backend. Please check the IP address, username and password.

Thanks for your reply. I noticed these things, what I meant to say is that it's not (maybe it is) related to the problem. I think it's an EPG problem here. The settings are correct, if they were not, I wouldn't be able to browse the channels in the list, would I ?

Except that it's reporting that it can find no channels (myth://alv:[email protected]/files/channels/none), which to me indicates there is a communication issue. I think, however, a debug log would be more helpful here. Then the log would contain more verbose messages (and more of them) to help debug what's going on.

Sorry for the late answer, but I'm waiting for a new card which is supposed to be the one I'll use. For now, I'm just doing a few tests with an old card. Let's see if I can reproduce my problem with the new one.

I have received my wintv pvrusb2 but I still have problems. As said here, http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=542599&postcount=5, i put my ip instead of 127.0.0.1 but no way.

Does Mythfrontend work properly on the same system?

The messages you have lead me to believe that something is majorly wrong with your Myth install. Do you have a backend log for the same period?

Yep, no problem. Only tried via VNC but I can see LiveTV

It might be a cmyth problem on the XBMC side as you said.

I'll give a try on the local HTPC to see whether it's a lan problem, pros of a usb device !

Just for sh!ts and giggles, have you tried playing back a recorded program (within XBMC)? I see you're running 0.23.fixes (Or a recent trunk) build of MythTV, it's possible something has changed with LiveTV that is breaking the cmyth implementation in XBMC. But I know that Recorded TV works fine (I'm running a similar build, and have no problems playing back recorded shows).
