Kodi is a powerfull media center and it is preferred over other options due to the degree of costumization it allows. Kodi is focused on organizing and browse a library of your local media. Media you already have when installing Kodi...
That's the only way for the movies and tvshows tab to show up.
The video on startup is another costumization your family member has applied to its own setup..its not default nor part of the vanilla Kodi.

so how do i change it so i get the different tabs and the start up is different like my family ?

I have no idea (and no one here has) how is kodi's setup on your family house... Those menu entries appear when you setup your library of media. Look here for a guide for starters:

Adding a video to kodi startup is a bit hackish but I think the only solution is this:

thats fine ill have to look for myself though i don't know where to look thats the problem !
