just got mu nexus player and installed isengard directly from the play store. great thats works!!
but when trying to configure it to get to my files om my (W8.1) server it cant get past the smb password. it just removes the password and i can type it again (and again, and again, ..)
so i remover isengard and got helix 14.2 instead (ez file, x86 apk etc)
same problem.
i tried it on my nexus 5, same problem.

what to do?

i read this problem before (on android) but didn't find a solution.

I had this when I upgraded on my nexus player.

I got round it by turning off password sharing on my PC.

it drove me.mad for hours.

what do you mean by "turning off password sharing on your PC"?

i'm pulling my out hair for about 2 days now :-(

SOLVED !! --> partial that is

turning off password PROTECTED sharing works! --> but:

now i can see the harddrives on my pc. so thats great.
when i want to enter a harddrive i got an new message:

Lock preferences for smb://SERVER/[harddrivename]

and it asks me for a username and password.
when i enter these i got the same problem i had whem accesing my pc/server:

Yeah, its not the best solution but it works.

Remember anyone on your network can now access your files.

On my network that's okay but if it was a.more.open and shared network I'd be concerned.

didnt work a level down (i can see my pc/server harddrives now, but cant access them. (see updated reply "solved")

Right click each folder on the root of the drive and ensure that under advanced sharing they are set to "everyone" if not then literally add a new one called "everyone"
