Full Version: Kodi starts with blank/transparent screen

Until recently Kodi was working fine on my system, unfortunately I don't know what's changed to break it. I have reverted my system to a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04 and Kodi 14.2.

Normally I run Kodi in a LightDM user session. When I do this, I get a blank screen, but I have audio.

If I run a standard session and start kod from a terminal window, the system stops responding as if Kodi has overlaid a transparent fullscreen window on the desktop.

glxgears will not open a window either, though it does work in full screen mode.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Andrew.
Ok, I *think* I know what's going on here. Nvidia settings shows a second monitor in X, even though I only have 1 connected, which is being detected as the secondary display. If Kodi ( and other GL windows ) were being displayed on this phantom screen, it would explain what I'm seeing. Don't have time to diagnose it now but will report back later.
This was indeed the issue - a phantom CRT screen ( though I don't know the cause ). I disabled the screen in nvidia-settings and now everything is working as it was.
