ok, well the guide is written for 16.04. i realize some people use a newer version nowadays. i don't have any problems, just wanted to make sure my system is compliant with the instructions so i can legitimately report problems :-)

perhaps add a short caveat before that section of the setup guide: "if you're using ubuntu 17.whatever, then symlink this etc." ?

 Please - put your "just a little question" posts into their own thread. No one will ever find them again in here. I know the problem, but won't post it in here out of that reason.
you're absolutely right, I apologize
For anyone using this guide that has an MCE IR remote this thread;
https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=326366

Provides an ir-keytable that greatly improves ease of setup. All keys on MCE remotes are configured.

Install is easy;
1) remove LIRC
2) install ir-keytable
3) create /etc/rc_keymaps directory
4) copy the rc6-mce config file from github to rc_keymaps
5) sudo ir-keytable -c -w /etc/rc_keymaps/rc6_mce

Remote will then work without issue, as long as your receiver is already working of course.
Hi,

when I listen to music after about 10 minutes, the tv and audio turn off, here's the log

https://pastebin.com/tVNiskFF

What can be wrong?
Disable DPMS, don't cut logfiles.

 Thanks!

i disabled it with xfce4-power-manager but the problem still remain
Do u need a full log?
Code:
xsetroot #000000
xset -dpms
OUTPUT=`xrandr -display :0 -q | sed '/ connected/!d;s/ .*//;q'`
xrandr -display :0 --output $OUTPUT --set "Broadcast RGB" "Full"
/usr/bin/kodi --standalone
openbox --exit

Use this as your autostart file.

Thanks fritsch but still not working
cat /home/kodi/.config/openbox/autostart | pastebinit
dpkg -l |grep mesa | pastebinit
DISPLAY=:0 vainfo | pastebinit
cat ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log | pastebinit
dmesg | pastebinit
id | pastebinit
amixer | pastebinit
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | pastebinit
Then I have no idea. If kodi's internal power management settings are disabled.

 Yes, in kodi is all off
Thanks for the excellent how-to.
One question: the systemd service does not seem to respond to a stop command.

What is the recommended way to stop or restart kodi from SSH or the CLI?

 That should work. Might be for you kodi hangs on exit or it crashes while exit and systemd restarts it. A Debug Log after the stop command will help.
