Hi, Ok.
I found an other forum that is related to my platform (Gemini Lake)
No - see the answer above. What you get is 100% expected. HEVC-10 bit support is NOT in 17.6 Linux versions of kodi - only LE picked it from v18 in a preliminary version from some of my "testing for technikaffe.de preview LE builds".
Hi,Ok I understand. I don't know that Kodi 17.6 don't contain the HEVC 10 bit acceleration pacth. I read your last comment.

Thanks for the help.
I assume that something important changed with Kernel versions 4.16 and later?
Kodi crashes on those kernels immediately into black screen.

No problem for me.
And not for me. It might crash with video= in combination with drm_kms_helper kernel command line.
Hi,
i just followed the guide and i got most of it working.
For some reason PVR addons are not available, i'm using kodi mostly for Live TV via TVH backend and now cannot install the addon.
Tried to build via this guide thru kodi user but i still don't see the addon. I can see folders /home/kodi/pvr.hts but no add-on.
Could someone please advise how to install TVH PVR addon as there is no PVR clients section available in add-on browser.

Never mind the above , sudo apt-get install kodi-pvr-hts solved the problem, not sure why the latest nightly did not had the PVR to start with ...
sudo apt install kodi-pvr-hts
Ok, i fixed this by changing to DP2 , works now, my bad ...
only issue now is slow changing between TV channels, i'll output kodi.log later

Almost perfectly happy, only problem is that there is only sound after TV restart. I followed different custom edid guides without success.
What am i doing wrongly?
@fritsch i have the same J4205-ITX as you and followed your guide, but must have done something wrong as i get no video signal after TV restart

Could it be that i need to do the custom edid for card0-DP2 instead of the HDMI-A-1 ?

feelgood@ubuntu:~$ ls /sys/class/drm
card0  card0-DP-1  card0-DP-2  card0-HDMI-A-1  renderD128  version
feelgood@ubuntu:~$ cat /sys/class/drm/card0-DP-2/status
connected
feelgood@ubuntu:~$ cat /sys/class/drm/card0-HDMI-A-1/status
connected

I have 4K TV on HDMI and receiver on DVI->HDMI , if i remember correctly the DP-2 should be the TV while the HDMI-A-1 could be the receiver?

also cannot output kodi.log
kodi@ubuntu:~$ cat ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log | pastebinit

I only use HDMI 2.0 via Display Port. You need edid for both outputs. Your AVR's for HDMI-1 and your TV's for DP2. Btw. this got broken on kernel 4.15 or later upstream ... so it might just crash the kernel.
I have a little something special since my upgrade from 17.10 to 18.04 Bionic.
After a reboot the mainmenu appears shortly, then the screen is black again and i can see the terminal-login in the left edge then after a second the Kodi Leia Logo shows up and Kodi is working now.
Before the do-release-upgrade it started normally.
There´s no crashlog, so i think Kodi doesn't restart because of an error at this moment.
I followed fritsch's tutorial exactly and also made the changes in the tut since 18.04.

journalctl -u kodi.service | pastebinit please
Found it by myself.
The reason was my sundtek TV-USB Stick.
In his conf:
Code:
device_attach=/root/./restartKODI.sh
so kodi will restart by detach and attach the stick...
But with older Ubuntu versions this had no impact on system startup... Shocked
Sorry for the circumstances!
Hey @fritsch

Do you know by any chance if they fixed the DD+ ? Smile
