Maybe a stupid question, but...
The "download" link for Kodibuntu points to http://mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/kodibun..._amd64.iso

Is this really version 14?
If yes, where do I get version 15 from?
There won't be a downloadable Kodibuntu 15 Isengard. You will always get the V14 and have to update manually with:

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

The "dist-upgrade" is neccessary because you need to install some additional packages which are hold back if you won't do a dist-upgrade.

Cheers
Hello, thank's for your answer.

I wonder why there is not a ISO with Isengard. it's pity because it 's a very good way to populate the Windows's users community (like me).
I just follow your apt-get command and now I have a nice kodi 15.1 isengard BUT before it autostarted kodi. Now, autostart doesn't work anymore.
So my children are a little bit lost.

I follow few steps to modify /etc/init/... and /usr/x11/... but it's not working for me. It's not userfriendly for basic users without linux abilities.

So just an advice to the kodi communities : You make amazing tools but it's hard to follow you. Communication is one of the main point to deal your work.
For example, stop the link on kodi.tv where you download the kodi 14.0 instead of 15.0 or 15.1 and explain the way way to upgrade clearly like David1977 does.

Thanks guys and anyway, that's a good good work you do.

Cheers Luc
Its the same OS base, so no need to make a new ISO when the application is perfectly good to be updated like all apps do in Linux.

Its also pointless to point out obvious things like that, its common knowledge and its up to users to educate themselves since the information comes up all over documentation on wiki on the forums to ad nauseam and duplicating it yet again isnt necessarily the best thing.

That said the main website is somewhat a jumble and that download page looks like the back of a bad accident and other website areas could be a lot better organized.
I also agree there should be an iso. I like doing fresh installs. I hate having to install old packages and then upgrade them all afterwards.
Thats just a waste of man hours and bandwidth, but oh well, if you insist on feeding your brand of OCD, then feel free anyone to take the source and build the iso yourselves.

Source is at https://github.com/xbmc/XBMCbuntu
some one know how to get the latest version pf kodi for the boxee box?
Google is so nice.....googling "Kodi boxee" brought me to: http://kodi.wiki/view/Boxee_Box

Inside this link I found this: http://boxeed.in/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=148

and this: http://www.devil-strike.com/xbmc_boxee/index.php

and after a few clicks I found, that there is only a Kodi 15 alpha for the boxee. Only 14 is final.
thank you very much for trying helping me. i appreciate that.
I do agree with others here that it should not be that obfuscated on how to and upgrade! 14.0 telly you there is an upgrade available it should be able to do it at the same time!

That being said Davis1977's post #2 is like butter! Just incorporated it into my install process!
If you don't feel comfortable using apt-get, you really shouldn't be using kodibuntu or Linux for that matter
I believed the purpose of kodibuntu was to democratise XBMC.

But one more time, if it is only for people which are comfortable with apt-get, keep your time and let them install Ubuntu + XBMC.

If you really want to make it simple for every one, do the job until the end :
no need of command line, just a button to launch the command of david1977 and it will be done.
Well...

1. PR welcome Wink. Help things getting better!

2. If you are using Kodi on Linux it might be very helpful to know how the system works (at least a bit). Linux is not Windows, where you click "next", "next", "ready". If you don't want to fiddle around with the command line (which includes you won't need any additional software), you might better go for OpenELEC. OpenELEC does an autoupdate if a newer version of Kodi is released. And if it fails, you can update easily by using the Samba share (which is enabled by default) and access the specific folder via your Windows PC.

So, you see, there is nothing to complain about. You have choices. Use them.

Unfortunately there is.
http://kodi.tv/download/ states that Kodi is now at v15.2 yet there is no Kodibuntu version. Instead, users are directed to the v14 iso of Kodibuntu whilst under the impression they are getting 15.2.
Worse still, there is no Kodibuntu live cd/usb of v15.2 so every time I use the v14 live usb, it notifies me that 15.2 is now available. Yet I can't use it unless I actually install it (which I don't want to do)!
OpenElec is no better as the ISO doesn't provide a live cd/usb version. Again, the only option the user is given is to install it. Yet the wiki doesn't make it clear that, unlike every other linux distribution on the planet, using it in livecd mode is not an option, despite endless searches of the documentation.
Very frustrating.
Well i just tried it. Undecided

1. It is just wrong to say "DOWNLOAD 15" and there is 14 behind. Angry
2. Update function does not work. I just entered sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade which works perfect but. After reboot the Media Center (Kodi) is not showing up anywhere. Sad
3. Autostart not working. Confused
4. Can't start Kodi anywhere or from command line. Rolleyes
