I have several options when added a video source from my nas. DNLP, SMB are two. Which is the most reliable source type to use? I believe my NAS is linux based.

NFS is usually recommended, if the NAS supports it (a Linux-based one should).

I have hooked up my nas using webdav. That protocal enabled u to connect to your nas even from a remote location, as long as it has internet connectivity
