Am I missing something? It has been a month since release and the Kodi download page (http://kodi.tv/download/) still links to Helix: mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/kodibuntu/kodibuntu-14.0~helix_amd64.iso

There isn't one. Install the helix version and upgrade.

And, for the further question ...there will be none. It's based on the same OS, So there's no particular reason to make a new distro for that. Like nickr said....update the way explained here: Kodibuntu (wiki)

Probably this thread wouldn't need to exist if it was clear on the download page.
