I updated to kodi 15.1 the official release, but everytime I try to install a repository from a zip file kodi freezes up and I have to force stop to restart kodi
I installed my configuration I had saved from kodi 14.2 would this be the problem? Don't want to set up fresh took me so long to customise it the way I like.
I don't see in the logs where you tried to install an add-on from a zip file?
Maybe it's because it freezes and I have to force close kodi, any suggestions to change settings on log updater or something
The old log should contain the crash session, but both logs didn't show it.
Try installing
SPMC (wiki) and see if installing from zip does the same thing. Since SPMC has a different app ID we can use it as a "fresh install" without messing up your current settings.

Couldn't get my setup to load on spmc changed the name but settings wouldn't load when finished pasting, think I'll have to redo my configuration when I get free time
I'm having this issue as well on 15.2-RC1. I'm not sure if this is a placebo but if I copy the zip into the packages folder and then install from there Kodi doesn't freeze on installation.
