I want to set up a Fire TV in my car and want to attached a USB HDD. I've always used SPMC on my Fire TV's in the house. Is there a way to automount a USB attached HDD to use for a car installed configuration?

I'd think it wouldn't be much different from how it is used in a house ;)

I think (can't check at the moment) that the path for the USB HDD shouldn't change between reboots, so you should only have to add it once, if it doesn't automatically list itself under videos.
