I have a few dozen working channels in my m3u file, and the are starting to show up in the EPG guide as I tweak the names to match, ie:

#EXTINF:-1,BBC Four UK
#EXTINF:-1,Bloomberg
#EXTINF:-1,CNN
#EXTINF:-1, Discovery Channel
#EXTINF:-1,E!
#EXTINF:-1,Food Network
#EXTINF:-1,France 24
#EXTINF:-1,FOX UK
etc.

I am using this link as an EPG guide based on a recommendation in this forum: http://epg.serbianforum.org/epg.xml.gz

But the guide is not all that suitable re USA/Canada channels.

Is there a better EPG guide I should be using? (for primarily USA channels)

The good ones require a subscription fee, but it's a reasonable fee IMO. I've been using Schedules Direct with a program that downloads the XML file in the same place every few days.

For the m3u file,, did you end up building your own over time, or is there an m3u url you can recommend?

I signed up for Schedules Direct, have an issue which I will post seperately about.
