is it ok to back my movies up to mkv rather than full iso
it saves about half the space as I don't have to have the special features and unused audio tracks.

Just curious as to what most people do

Yea. I'm watching one now. However mkvs that have Dolby tru hd skip. Hopefully it's something that a future firmware for the kdlinks a300 will fix. Mkv works fine for dts hd. However as of now to keep the Dolby tru hd I'm gonna have to use ISO. I just hate backin up the whole disc. It's like 20 gigs of extras and junk

wait a second, you can play TrueHD within ISO files but not when inside a MKV?
