I was curious if there was any way to run a scan without starting Kodi. I'm finding myself running a download on my main system, then starting Kodi on my main system just so the new file will show in my Living Room HTPC when I go over there.

My thought is if I could only run the scanning portion I could run it as an automated process when downloads are complete.

Why not just leave kodi running on that system and setting it to run a scan when needed

Kodi must run to scan. If you use a common MySQL database, you can update the library from one system and it will not have to scanned by the other systems.
