Given that it's directly targeting media files and that most of our Android boxes will be vulnerable for some time, is this an issue in Kodi?

if you run unpatched firmware, it probably is.

Amazon is usually ahead of Google on this. The Fire TV (5.0.2.1 531006320) is patched. A Nexus Player running the official Marshmallow release should be fine. Not sure if Shield has got Marshmallow yet.

Anything else, probably not.
